Its Cancer
I took a grinder to the only rust spot on my truck and it turned out to be worse than I thought it was. But its a truck, and my only rust is in my bed. So its not too terrible. I just put some krylon paint/primer on it from above and below for now.
Im not sure what Im gonna do, If I can find a replacement panel, I think I’ll weld it in. If not, I may just replace the bed. But if I replace it, should I get one from a junkyard or should I pay an arm and a leg to get a brand new bed from Ford?

Sloppily weld a patch and rhino-line the bitch.

I kinda wanna do it right. But ya, whatever I do I was planning on putting bedliner on both sides before I put the bed back on

Replacement panel? Might be pricey if it’s even out there.
I think you can just cut a template out of cardboard, cut that out of sheet steel, and weld that in.

Just the up piece would suffice. I'd think coating both sides might do more harm than good. Plus there's the added weight.

$300 sounds like a fair price just for the bed, and you could make all of that back scrapping the rest of the truck.

Anything worth doing is worth doing lazily and haphazardly

I thought about making a bed like that, but I decided I didnt like the look

But the usability is intense
Plus it comes with wheels and tires and parts.

I do really like those wheels

And (potential) profit.

Those beds in that color are incredibly common. I absolutely just recommend shelling out for a complete bed from the junker.

Pssh. That’s nothing. You need to up your Ranger game bro.
The old bed on mine was pretty much rotted lengthwise down both sides of the bed. I think if we tried hard enough we could have ripped the sides off the truck and just be left with a flatbed. Hooray plastic drop in liners!

cut out a patch , then weld in some checker plate.

Honestly it's probably not worth the trouble to cut up a piece of the bed. As you said, it's a truck. just find a piece of metal, bang it into shape, tack it on, and bedline it.
